Eldon Harry Middleton Ii Obituary (1940

Eldon Harry Middleton II, 76, a resident of the Aloha community passed away on the morning of April 16, 2017 at the Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland. Eldon was born on June 15, 1940 in Berlin New Hampshire. He was one of two children born to Eldon H. Middleton and Claudette Caouette. He was raised by his aunt and uncle Bill and Helen Thompson in Lancaster NH attending Lancaster High School graduating with the Class of 1958. Following high school Eldon joined the military and served his country in the Navy. He met his future wife Alicia Miller in 1963 at a high school dance and following a short courtship they were married on May 21, 1964 in New Hampshire. They made their home on the east coast in and around the New England States. They moved to Hillsboro in 1978 and settled in Hillsboro. They divorced in 1990. He met Loraine Peterson through mutual friends and they began a friend ship that lasted over ten years. Eldon worked in the radio communication department in the navy stationed off the coast of Maine. Then he managed IHOP restaurants on the east coast . Later he and his brother opened their own restaurant called "Hungry Jakes " in Barre Vermont. He joined the army as a "weekend warrior" and became a drill sergeant. While doing this he started working in the granite quarry in Vermont . This was very hard , labor intense work. dad was always a hard worker. When he moved to Hillsboro he began a career as a Union Carpenter for local 247 which became after his retirement Local 1503. He helped build some notable landmarks in the Pacific Northwest including the Convention Center , The Portland Courthouse , Intel buildings, refurbished an old church and many other Portland buildings. He retired in 2001. He was a great dad and always inspired ideals for us to work hard and go to college . We did lots of outdoor activity together , camping , fishing , hiking . He loved his kids and grand kids.He also enjoyed hunting with his long time friend Jeff and got into knife making in his later years. He also spent time living in North Dakota about 7 years ago, (he bought a house there and lived there half the year until he got too sick to go back) and made some great friends there, James and Duie to name a couple. Eldon also volunteered with habitat for humanity and built houses for " Christmas in April " for people who could not afford to buy a house . He is preceded in death by his parents, his son; Ryan and a brother Dexter Middleton. He is survived by his three children and their spouses; Eldon H Middleton III of Aloha, Kristen and Terry Cox of Portland, Miranda and Nicholas Kessler of Hillsboro, three siblings; Wynta Sampson of New Hampshire, Wyatt Thompson of New Hampshire, Lucian Middleton of Idaho, seven grandchildren; Eldon H. IV, Brittany, Kylashae, Javae, Jonathon, Henry and Ruby and two great grandchildren.
