Marilyn Kay Goodrich

–

Forest Grove, Oregon

Marilyn Kay (Knox) Goodrich was born in Great Falls, Montana on March 21, 1940. When she was four years old her family moved to Oregon. She graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1958. She graduated from Providence School of Nursing in 1962.
In 1962, she married Jim Goodrich. They were married for 58 years before he passed in 2020. They began married life by moving to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where Jim was stationed in the army and she worked as a nurse. Their next home was Seattle where their children James Michael "Mike" and Mary Christine "Chris" were born.  They moved back to Hillsboro, Oregon in 1967 and lived in this area until 2020 when Marilyn moved to Hearthstone Independent Living in Beaverton, eventually moving to Assisted Living where she passed from the complications of cancer on January 28, 2026.
Marilyn made friends everywhere she went. She was still in touch with friends she met in grade school. When she moved into Hearthstone she made many friends and enjoyed her time visiting during meals each day. On the day she passed there was a constant stream of aides, friends, and friends' children stopping by to share memories of what Marilyn meant to them. Her closest lifelong "friend" was her sister, JoAnne who was 8 years old when Marilyn was born.
After having children, Marilyn became involved in volunteer and paid work for the Home Builder's Association where she was proud of originating the Midsummer's Night Dream Charity Night at the Street of Dreams in the late 1980s. She also did charitable work as a member of Alpha Upsilon and Providence Child Center. She loved her volunteer work at a local high school holding babies while their mothers' attended classes.
Marilyn loved her large extended family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Nic, Jeremy & Mackenzie. She was the proud grandma, along with Jim, watching many lacrosse, soccer and dance events. In 2021, when Mackenzie married Timmy, she said she was the happiest person there that day. She became a great grandma in November 2025 with the birth of Luca.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim; her brother Sandy (Owen) Knox and his wife Jan; her brother Jerry Knox; her brother-in-law Dale Tyson; and her sister-in-law Jan (Goodrich) Howe and her husband Bill.
Marilyn is survived by her children Mike (& Lisa) Goodrich and Chris Youngman; grandchildren Nic Alexander, Jeremy Goodrich, and Mackenzie (& Timmy) Thomas; her great-grandson, Luca Knox Thomas; her sister, JoAnne Tyson; sister-in-law, Diane Knox; and many nieces and nephews.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
