Forest Grove, Oregon
Sandra Kay Gilbert Dunn, of Forest Grove, Oregon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 30, 2026, at the age of 80. Born December 13, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to Bear Gilbert and Esther Helen Harris, Sandra lived a life of devoted service to her Heavenly Father, her family, and all who knew her.
Sandra grew up in Tacoma, Washington, graduating from Stadium High School in 1964. While working as a secretary at Boeing, in Seattle, she met William Paul Dunn, a devoted father to three children. Their relationship blossomed into a deep and abiding partnership, and they married in 1969, welcoming six more children in the years that followed. Together they built a home filled with faith, hard work, and enduring love, living in various communities throughout Washington State and Colorado as they raised their growing family.
Sandra's life was defined by compassion and sacrifice. She poured her love and energy into caring for her family and extended that same love to the elderly residents she served for many years in homecare and assisted living facilities. Her gentle strength, patience, and steady faith made her a source of comfort to all who knew her.
Creativity flowed naturally from her hands. Sandra loved sewing, crocheting, journaling, and creating handmade gifts that became cherished keepsakes. She found joy in caring for the earth and nurturing animals, especially her many beloved dogs. Her family takes comfort knowing she has rejoined the companions she loved and lost.
Sandra is survived by her children: James (Wendy) Dunn, Paula Dunn, Kirk (Jenny) Dunn, Amy (Slade) Morgan, Seth Dunn, Jennifer (Michael) Baxter, Kathryn (Justin) Keller, and Galen Dunn; 23 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
She is deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her family rejoices knowing she is reunited with her dear husband, her parents, her son, and others who preceded her in death. May her legacy of faith, integrity, and quiet strength continue to inspire all who were blessed by her life.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2700 Leon Drive, Forest Grove, Oregon.
